About this site

Automation statement

Tilting at Tomes is one reader's work. This page says where software, including AI, helps run the site, and where it doesn't.

What runs on its own

  • Reading guides: once a week, a script rebuilds the guides and the read-ahead list from Ben's episode notes and the "Books discussed" lists in the video descriptions. It copies titles, authors and years. It writes nothing new.
  • Latest episodes: the homepage pulls the newest videos from YouTube.
  • Polls and quizzes: votes are counted, quizzes are scored and results update without anyone touching them.

Where AI helps

  • Building the site: the code was written with Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, under Ben's direction. Ben reviews every page before it goes live.
  • Quiz and poll questions: drafted with AI help from the books in each episode. Every fact is checked against the books themselves or reliable sources, and Ben approves every question before it is published.
  • Poll results: after a poll closes, an AI assistant may help summarize the totals and written answers for Ben. Answers carry no names. See how your answers are used.

What doesn't

  • The readings: the arguments, interpretations and opinions in every episode are Ben's.
  • No AI-generated media: there are no AI-generated images, audio or video on this site or on the channel. Video footage and music are Ben's own or licensed stock.
